There are several hundred species of butterflies and moths in Borneo's rainforests.
We saw orangutans in the rainforest nearly every day. Orangutans are the largest arboreal mammal in the world, and their only natural habitat is in Borneo and Sumatra. The Malay word orangutan means, "person of the forest." They are highly intelligent and are closely related to humans. Orangutans are more solitary than other apes, and males are loners. The orangutans we observed were always alone. This male is eating figs in a tree near the lodge.
A VERY long ant trail on a VERY tall dipterocarp tree.
